My plumber fitted a plastic pipe (with a tundish) for the pressure relieve pipework. He attached it to the condensing pipe, as there is no easy access to an outside wall. Another plumber came over for another unrelated job and said the plastic pipe would not cope with the heat in case of a boiler issue and therefore should be replaced with copper.

So to summarise:-if your boiler is not firing after a power cut, it could be reduced power causing the problem. Worth checking the voltages if possible with a meter.

I think you may need to get an engineer in to look at the flow/ dry fire switch, It's fitted to the boiler, where the pipe is, it's like a flap type valve that, when the boiler starts up, it proves the pump, and dry fire. The cast iron heat exchanger, is such a bad design the valve gets clogged up.
